A coupon can help you run a limited promotion, reward an existing audience, or test a new offer without permanently lowering its listed price. In Systeme.io, the documented coupon workflow connects a coupon asset to a sales-funnel order form and then adds a coupon field to the checkout page.
This tutorial is research-based and follows current official Systeme.io documentation. It does not claim hands-on testing. Menu names can change, so compare each step with the live account interface before launching a promotion.

Know where the coupon workflow applies
Systeme.io's official coupon guide requires a sales funnel and an order form, also called a payment page. This matters if you recently created a product in Creator Store. The Creator Store has its own checkout setup, while the documented coupon process starts from a funnel payment page.
Do not assume a coupon created under Assets will automatically appear on every checkout. Plan to attach it to the specific order form where you want customers to use it. If your product currently exists only in Creator Store, review how to sell a digital download in Systeme.io Creator Store, then decide whether a sales funnel is the better path for your promotion.
Step 1 Create or confirm the order form
Open the sales funnel that will sell the offer. Add a new funnel step and choose Order form as the page type. Select a template or start from scratch, then save the page.
In the order-form settings, choose whether the offer is a digital or physical product. For a digital offer, Systeme.io documents resources such as courses, course bundles, tags, communities, and calendar events. Select the resource that a successful buyer should receive. A tag can be useful when fulfillment happens through an automation rather than direct course access.
Confirm the page already has a price plan. A coupon reduces a configured price, so there must be a price plan attached to the offer before it can be sold.
Step 2 Configure the price plan
From the order-form settings, choose Digital product, add the product resource, and create or select a price plan. Systeme.io supports three documented price-plan types:
- One-time payment: one amount charged once.
- Subscription: a recurring amount at the interval you configure.
- Payment plan: recurring installments with a defined total number of payments.
Set the customer-facing name, internal dashboard name, statement descriptor, price, and tax behavior. Save the price plan, then save the digital product settings. Before choosing the discount, calculate the amount you can afford after processor fees, refunds, and taxes. Our guide to calculating online course platform costs offers a reusable framework.
Step 3 Create the coupon
Go to Assets, open Coupons, and select Create. Complete the fields shown in the coupon dialog:
- Coupon name: an internal label that explains the campaign.
- Coupon code: the exact code customers will enter.
- Discount type: a fixed amount or percentage.
- Discount amount: the value deducted from the price.
- Expiration: the date after which the code should stop working.
- Limit of use: the maximum number of customers who can use it.
Use a code that is easy to read and difficult to mistype, such as WELCOME15. Avoid ambiguous characters when possible. Systeme.io says the expiration date must be selected through the calendar popup rather than typed manually. Leave the usage limit blank if you intend unlimited uses.
Step 4 Choose fixed or percentage discount
A percentage coupon is simple when several eligible price points should receive the same relative discount. For example, 15% produces a different dollar reduction on a $20 product than on a $100 product.
A fixed discount gives you tighter control over the dollar value. Systeme.io displays a currency field when you choose a fixed amount, so match the coupon currency to the price plan. A mismatch can create confusion or make the promotion unsuitable for a multi-currency setup.
The official guide also says a 100% percentage coupon or a fixed discount equal to the price can create a full discount. Test this carefully before using it for lead generation. Confirm the customer experience, resource access, and any payment-gateway behavior rather than assuming a zero-balance order works exactly like a paid order.
Step 5 Attach the coupon to the order form
Return to the funnel's payment page. In the Coupons section, select the plus icon, choose the discount type, select the coupon code, and save. This connects the coupon to that offer.
Next, open the page editor. Drag the Coupon element onto the page and save the design. Place the field near the price summary or payment button, where customers can understand that it affects the order total.
A coupon asset, an order-form assignment, and a visible coupon element are three separate pieces. Missing any one of them can leave customers without a usable code field.
Step 6 Test before sharing the code
Open the checkout as a customer and test the promotion. Verify the following:
- The coupon field is visible on desktop and mobile.
- The exact code is accepted and the total changes correctly.
- An expired, invalid, or over-limit code is rejected clearly.
- The right resource is delivered after a successful order.
- Confirmation email, tags, and follow-up automation run as intended.
- The receipt and payment-processor records show an understandable total.
For subscriptions and payment plans, Systeme.io says the discount applies on each monthly payment due date. That can make a recurring coupon more expensive than a discount intended only for the first payment. Model the full customer value before publishing the code.
Use coupons as a controlled experiment
Define one purpose for the promotion, such as activating waitlist subscribers, rewarding existing customers, or testing price sensitivity. Use a specific expiration date and a reasonable redemption limit so the offer does not become a permanent hidden price.
Track the checkout conversion rate, completed orders, refund requests, and net revenue, not only the number of coupon uses. A promotion that increases orders but reduces net revenue or attracts poor-fit customers may not be worth repeating.

Final checklist
- Order form and customer resource are configured.
- A price plan is attached and its tax behavior is reviewed.
- Coupon type, amount, currency, expiration, and usage limit are intentional.
- The coupon is attached to the correct payment page.
- The Coupon element is visible in the page editor.
- A complete test order confirms the discount and fulfillment.
